College & Career Center

The College and Career Resource Center (CCRC) supports the work of the counseling department by providing college and career resources, information services, and classroom activities geared towards college and career exploration. The CCRC has books related to career and college preparation including College Guidebooks, SAT and ACT Test Study Guides, Scholarship and Financial Aid Guides, Technical and Trade school information, Industry specific guides, Military brochures, materials for the Job Search (resume/ interview tips), college support books, and more. The CCRC provides relevant and timely electronic resources for post-secondary planning and maintains a Google Classroom accessible to 11th and 12th graders and by request.

There is also a job board outside the CCRC with student appropriate work opportunities which are also emailed out to students. The College and Career Center Coordinator is available to meet with students one-on-one, assists in special events such as Senior Parent Night, HVRHS Career Fair, HVRHS College Fair, and Junior Parent Night, and is the Site Representative for the University of Connecticut Early College Experience and the Northwestern CT Community College High School Partnership Program.

PLEASE NOTE:  Most colleges have cancelled spring campus tours and open houses. Our office has received a number of messages from colleges indicating they are providing virtual tours. NACAC lists information regarding online virtual visits and information sessions. The list is updated daily: Click HERE.

Information can also be obtained directly from the college web sites.

Dual Enrollment Programs

In addition to the above the CCRC administers several paths for students to earn college credit at high school. Each year we explore opportunities to expand the course offerings in these programs. Click HERE and click on Dual Enrollment in the “More” drop down menu to review the programs open this year.

With all programs, parental consent is required  before students can be enrolled in a program.
