Athletics
Housatonic has a long tradition of athletic success; our participation rate is one of the highest in Connecticut. Year after year, 45-47% of our students participate in at least one sport per year. Despite being a small school, HVRHS is proud of providing 19 varsity sports for students to choose from. We believe athletics are an important extension of school life; participation is a powerful way to teach and learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition. Our athletic program fosters success in the classroom, on the playing field, and in students’ careers.
HVRHS is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC), competes in the Berkshire League, Pequot League (football), Nutmeg League (ice hockey), Western CT Lacrosse (girls’ lacrosse) and the Berkshire-Hudson Ski League (alpine skiing). In addition to our varsity sports, we offer numerous opportunities at the junior varsity level, too.
