Student Publications

Acorn – Arts and Literature Magazine

Acorn is here to provide a creative outlet for student to get their work out there. We welcome original, independent work as well as creative school assignments. Anyone will be able to view or listen to student work in our online edition, released three times each year, at http://www.acornhvrhs.com/. Selections will also be published in the hard copy at the end of the year.

The Northwest Corner – School Newspaper

The Northwest Corner publishes several times a year and covers a range of topics related to HVRHS, both within and beyond our school walls. The most current issue and archives are available on the newspaper’s website. If you would like to get involved as a student journalist, see the Main Office.

The White Oak – School Yearbook

The White Oak is a student-run publication that provides the opportunity for students to develop creativity, learn and utilize layout and design trends, and participate in the creation and distribution of the HVRHS yearbook.  Through the study of layout and design, journalism, ethics, photography, Adobe InDesign CS, and basic business and sales concepts, the student’s knowledge will continue to be refined to gain an enjoyment and appreciation of yearbook creation, graphic design and distribution.

The yearbook is a publication that reflects the events and lives of people involved with our school during a given year:  it is a memory book, a history book, a record book, and/or a reference book.  It is also a public relations tool for our school that reflects the support of our Region One communities.

The Yearbook staff meets as part of the Yearbook Design course.  Students also have an opportunity to participate in Yearbook during the Monday morning activity blocks.

We are always open to new ideas or suggestions for the yearbook.  If you have ideas or would like to contribute in some way, please contact any staff member or e-mail us at yearbook@hvhrs.org.
