The Housatonic Valley Regional High School Debate, founded in 2013 by history teachers Deron Bayer and John Lizzi, is a group that teaches and encourages critical thinking on modern issues through civil deliberation. The debate team shows students how to view and assess issues from multiple angles as well as how to support and present those views in effective and relatable ways. The team travels to a competition at a Connecticut high school once every month from September until March, giving participants the opportunity to debate against students from across the state.

The debate team meets on Tuesday afternoons at 2:30 in the Library Reading Room.
