21ST CENTURY FUND FOR HVRHS

“Excellence for Everyone”

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the 21st Century Fund for HVRHS to sponsor high impact learning opportunities that supplement the traditional school budget.

CRITERIA FOR APPROVAL OF PROJECTS

Projects must:

  • Meet important student needs and opportunities
  • Have observable outcomes that directly benefit the largest possible number of students
  • Show strong potential to continue past the year of funding
  • Extend beyond the classroom for both teacher and student to encourage real world problem solving and community involvement
  • Extend beyond what is conventionally possible due to restraints of time, money or facilities
  • Help students to see connections between present learnings and future achievements

Please note that in order to have a “high impact” on “learning” for “the largest possible number of students,” project applications from individuals must include specific and concrete provisions for reaching out to share the experience within the school culture. Given these criteria, it is difficult, though not impossible, for senior students to qualify.

PROCESS

Students, teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members are all eligible to submit proposals for projects to the Steering Committee of the 21st Century Fund for HVRHS. Application forms are available from Mrs. Linda DiCorleto, Secretary of the Committee, in room 104 of the high school, and they are accepted throughout the calendar year. Applications must pertain to projects that are proposed; there will be no retroactive approvals of in-process or completed projects.

The 21st Century Fund for HVRHS is a fund within the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, a 501 © (3) not-for-profit corporation. All contributions are tax deductible.
