The study of science at HVRHS emphasizes an inquiry-based exploration of science method and concept with the ultimate goal being the development of science literacy in all students.  The aim of curriculum design in the science department is to develop units and courses that emphasize student use of science process and reasoning to develop a deep understanding of underlying concepts.  A specific focus is placed on the development and use of skills that will carry the student through his lifetime as an informed and active citizen of the world (specifically including reading skills, experimentation skills, analytic skills, and mathematical skills).
