Agricultural Education

The HVRHS Agricultural Science and Technology department (Ag-Ed) is one of twenty-one such programs in the state. Chartered over 80 years ago, our program is rich in tradition, community support and leadership; students learn about the environment and its relationship with animals, plants, and machinery in a hands-on experiential way. Courses provide education and career training in agricultural engineering, animal, food, and plant sciences as well as natural resources. Ag Ed has a fully equipped Farm-to-Table kitchen, mechanics shop, animal barn, small animal area, aquaculture/hydroponics lab, greenhouse, and forest woodlot laboratory.

All Agricultural Education students participate in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). SAE projects foster personal growth, career development and responsible citizenship. The skills, knowledge, and connections gained through SAEs are a tangible learning experience with an applied purpose and measurable results.

Agricultural Education students may join the National FFA Chapter FFA to provide students with the necessary skills to become the agricultural leaders of tomorrow through development of premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.

The Agricultural Education Department Provides the opportunity to compete in over thirty Career Development events at the local, state, and national levels, including learning development events such as employment skills, parliamentary procedure, and public speaking. We are the home of the HVRHS Envirothon and Electrathon (electric car) teams which compete successfully in local, state, and North American events.
