2012 YEARBOOKS ARE IN!
If you ordered and paid for a 2012 yearbook they are now available for pick up at the high school main office during the hours of 8:00 am -12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Monday – Friday. If you did not purchase a yearbook; you will need to contact Ms. McLeod after September 4. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org and at this time there are only a few extra copies at $65.00 and would only be first come first serve.
Friday, August 24 from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm.
FRESHMEN REMINDER: Freshmen will have their photos taken on Orientation Day Friday, August 24th. If you wish to purchase school pictures the FORM MUST BE GIVEN TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER at the time the photo is taken. If you did not receive a form by mail, they are available at the high school main office.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Monday, August 27
There will be no school on Friday, August 31 & Monday, September 3 for the Labor Day Holiday.
SCHOOL ID / PICTURE DAY:
The first picture days for grades 10, 11, and 12 to get their ID photos (taken during study hall) will be next Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29. Students should report to study hall first for attendance and then head to the library for their photos. If students do not have a study hall, they can have their photo taken at lunch time or between classes. Picture forms are at the main office. Grade 9 students who did not get their ID photo taken during freshmen orientation, should also do so at this time. ID’s for seniors are not made from senior portraits, so seniors will need to remember to get their photo taken for their ID card.
If you missed the pre-season meeting for all athletes and their parents on August 14, Blue cards and handbooks can be picked up at the high school main office. All student-athletes must have a current physical and blue card on file with the school in order to be eligible for the first day of practice. FALL SPORTS FIRST PRACTICE: Saturday, August 25
Cross Country 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Volleyball 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Girls Soccer Session 1: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Session 2: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Players are required to attend both.
Boys Soccer 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Field Hockey: On August 27th – 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
FOOTBALL CONDITIONING: August 15 – 20, first practice August 21.
Football (previously announced): Housatonic-Wamogo Football will begin conditioning August 15th at 5:00 p.m. at the High School. The first day of full practice will be on August 21st. All interested players should attend conditioning on August 15th.

EARLY COLLEGE EXPERIENCE PROGRAM:
Next year, HVRHS will be participating in the University of Connecticut’s Early College Experience Program. The ECE is a concurrent enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UCONN courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit. Two courses, AP Calculus AB and US History 11H, will be part of this dual enrollment program.
Students have the option of taking these courses for just high school credit, or both UCONN and high school credit. Students who elect to receive 3 credits for Calculus must pay a fee of $90; students who take US History for 6 credits (they will receive credit for two UCONN courses) must pay a fee of $180.00.
If you are interested in this program, you must fill out a registration form (available from Mrs. Prince in the Counseling Office) and return it by the last day of exams. An invoice for the course fee will be mailed to the student by the University of Connecticut at the end of August.
