HOLIDAY REMINDER:
There will be no school on Friday, August 31 & Monday, September 3 for the Labor Day Holiday.

2012 YEARBOOKS ARE IN!
If you ordered and paid for a 2012 yearbook they are now available for pick up at the high school main office during the hours of 8:00 am -12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Monday – Friday. If you did not purchase a yearbook; you will need to contact Ms. McLeod after September 4. Her email is kmcleod@hvrhs.org and at this time there are only a few extra copies at $65.00 and would only be first come first serve.

OPEN HOUSE:
Thursday, September 13

PARENT /TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 18
Registration on our webpage will open on Tuesday, September 4 and close on Wednesday, October 3.

EQUINE JUDGING:
Equine judging practice will begin on Wednesday, September 5th.

FFA INVITE:
The Housatonic Valley FFA would like to invite students to a fun and games night September 13 from 7-9 in the Ag – Ed center. This is the same evening as our High School Open House.  Come celebrate the start of school, make an ice cream sundae, play some games, meet your friends!  See Mrs. Davenport for details.

DRIVER’S ED:
The next Driver’s Education Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 1st.

Theatre Production Opportunity:
There will be a brief informational meeting at 5 pm in the auditorium on Wednesday, September 5 for those interested in being part of the Falls Village Children’s Theatre fall production of the Little Mermaid?  It is open to those ages 8-22 and the director will be Lanny Mitchell.  Students can also see Mrs. Garcia-Tripp with questions.

TIMEKEEPERS, MANAGERS & BOOKKEEPERS NEEDED FOR SPORTS:
Mr. Carroll and the fall coaching staff are looking for timekeepers, managers, and bookkeepers for the upcoming fall season. Please see Mr. Carroll and any of the fall coaches if you are interested.

FALL SPORTS:
Blue cards and handbooks can be picked up at the high school main office.
All student-athletes must have a current physical and blue card on file with the school in order to be eligible for the first day of practice. For more information, please contact Athletic Director Dan Carroll at 860-824-5123 x190 or at dcarroll@hvrhs.org

EARLY COLLEGE EXPERIENCE PROGRAM:
Next year, HVRHS will be participating in the University of Connecticut’s Early College Experience Program.  The ECE is a concurrent enrollment program that allows motivated high school students to take UCONN courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit.  Two courses, AP Calculus AB and US History 11H, will be part of this dual enrollment program.
Students have the option of taking these courses for just high school credit, or both UCONN and high school credit.  Students who elect to receive 3 credits for Calculus must pay a fee of $90; students who take US History for 6 credits (they will receive credit for two UCONN courses) must pay a fee of $180.00.
If you are interested in this program, you must fill out a registration form (available from Mrs. Prince in the Counseling Office) and return it by the last day of exams.  An invoice for the course fee will be mailed to the student by the University of Connecticut at the end of August.
