RECORDER DRIVE:
Donate your old recorders (instrument) for the Mekele Blind School in Ethiopia. You can drop them off at the guidance office.

COLLEGE FAIR PLANNED:
On May 2nd from 10 am to noon, Housatonic will host a College and Career Fair. Students in all grades will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of colleges, the military and individuals who will represent a variety of different careers. This event is in the planning stages at this time, so stay tuned for more details!

APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER JOBS:
The applications are now available at the high school main office for the North Canaan Summer Jobs Program. Applicants must be 14 or 15 years of age and be residents of North Canaan.

21st Century Fund for HVRHS Advisory Board:
Winter Wednesday Lecture Series Comes to the Mahoney-Hewat Science and Technology Center: This March through early April, the 21st Century Fund for HVRHS will sponsor a lecture series at the Mahoney-Hewat Science and Technology Center, called Winter Wednesdays at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are free, but a donation is welcomed. In order to plan, the 21st Century Fund Board would like you to RSVP (21stcenturyfund@gmail.com). Walk-ins will also be welcome.

Geology of the Marble Valley – POSTPONED TO APRIL 10
David Lindsay, of Falls Village, is a geologist and Site Manager of the Mahoney-Hewat Center. Dave Lindsay was a science teacher and department chair at HVRHS, serving that school for 41 years. He had the most fun team-teaching the high school’s Geology Course with his mentor and colleague Ed Kirby (when Ed was the Principal) and the HVRHS Inventions & Patents Course that he team-taught with Sid Shore, a Sharon inventor and educator.   In the final years of his Housatonic activities, he organized and recruited geology class students to travel throughout the USA and Canada to see geologic sights during summer vacations.
Dave has a Bachelors degree in Geology from the University of Connecticut and a Masters degree in the Earth Sciences for Teachers from the University of Vermont.
His two daughters and his incredible grandson live in Maine and his wife, Barbara, is presently finishing her PhD in History at the University of Maine.
