THE LATE BUS IS AT 5:30 PM.

SPORTS UPDATE FOR TODAY:

Baseball – The scrimmage for today vs. Watertown H.S. has been postponed until tomorrow. There will be practice after school today outside.
Boys Lacrosse – Practice will be outside today at 3:45.
Girls Lacrosse – Practice will start at 3:30 and will be outside. Please go to the library until 3:00.
Softball – Practice will be at 3:25 in the gym. Please get changed and meet Coach Membrino outside in the gym foyer/hallway ASAP after school.
B/G Track – Meet in the cafeteria after school today.
Girls Tennis – please meet in room 101 after school today.
Boys Tennis – practice in the gym immediately after school.
Golf – report to room 133 after school today.

FIELD DAY:
CONGRATULATIONS!! Students of Housatonic have earned a Field Day, which will be held on May 24th!

ARTGARAGE:
Today at the artgarage: workshops in mosaics, fashion illustration and beginning sewing machine skills. Come by and make some art.

FROM THE SCULPTURE CLASS:
Please ENJOY the life size tape sculptures seen around the school….but PLEASE be respectful and do not touch the art. Thank you.

Senior Class Pasta Dinner:

At Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the Cafeteria. Come enjoy a night of pasta, music and silent auctions!

LACROSSE:
The Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams are looking for managers for the upcoming season. Please see Mr. Carroll for more information.

The following change(s) have been accepted and made to the Morgan vs. Housatonic Regional Varsity Girls Lacrosse game: Game Date: 04/04/12 (No change), Game Time: changed from 4:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Home Team: Housatonic Regional (No change) Facility: High School Field (No change).

BATTLE OF THE BANDS:
This year the Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, April 28th at the HVRHS auditorium from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. The MC will be Jonathan Grusaukas. Set-up/Sound check from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Applications are now available through the HYBS and the main office at the high school. All applications MUST be received by Friday, April 5, 2012. General Guidelines for Entry: All genres accepted. No solo acts or a cappella acts (instrumental only). 2-3 song set; up to 20 minutes per band – includes on/off stage & Hal’s intro. Cash prizes for 1st place, Runner Up and People’s Choice. Must provide own instruments, equipment and sound system. (Further details outlined, once application submitted). Mandatory pre-meeting: Friday, April 20th. Your band will be advertised on all promos.

LOST:
A class ring was lost on Thursday, possible in or around the science wing of the school, if found please bring it to the main office.

JUNIORS:
It is recommended that all juniors take both the SAT and ACT their junior year.  Please find the following information about registering for these tests.

The SAT’s will be given at HVRHS on May 5th, the deadline for registration is April 6th – students can register at www.collegeboard.org.  The next SAT would be June 2nd with a deadline of May 8th.  If you receive free or reduced lunch, please see your counselor for a fee waiver.

The ACT’s are not given at the high school, but are administered at several local area schools.  The next ACT is April 14th – the late registration deadline is March 23rd.  There is also a test on June 9th with a registration deadline of May 4th.  You can register at www.actstudent.org.  It is recommended that all students sign up for the optional Writing test when taking the exam.  Again, if you receive free or reduced lunch, please see your counselor for a fee waiver.

AFS CLUB SERVICE PROJECT:
The AFS Club will be working on a Service Project during the month of March. The students would like to support 2 self-sustaining initiatives created by women in rural villages of Guatemala: in Huehuetenango and in Quiche. During lunch each day the club members will be selling EGGS and VEGETABLES for $1 apiece. The AFS Club has established a goal of $1000.00. The HVRHS teachers & staff will also be involved in this project. The funds from Dress-Down days on Fridays will be earmarked for the 2 projects in Guatemala.
