THE SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Dear Hello Dolly Auditioners:
Thank you again for taking the time to prepare and audition for HELLO, DOLLY!  The cast list is no available at the main office.  We are very excited about this amazing cast and look forward to starting rehearsals! Please note that the first rehearsal and mandatory parent meeting will take place in the auditorium on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8 — Parent/Student meeting from 12-12:30 pm, and rehearsal from 12:30-4 pm.
Congratulations!   Please confirm by email your acceptance of your role as soon as possible (but no later than November 14)!

JUNIOR CLASS RINGS:
Jostens was here on Thursday during class advisory to hand out information packets to order class rings. If you did not receive one you can pick one up at the main office. Jostens will be back on November 14 to collect orders and money during all lunches.

COLLEGE & CAREER RESOURCE CENTER:
Castleton State – 8:00 am on Friday 11/8
All interested students should see Mrs. Beaujon in the CCRC, room 101, for a pass.
Remember this is your opportunity to talk with the representative that will be reading your application first.

FINANCIAL AID NIGHTS:
There are two Financial Aid Nights planned for HVRHS. The first is tonight – November 7th at 7:00 pm. This will be an overview of the financial aid process. The second, January 8 at 7:00 pm, is a FAFSA workshop. Senior parents who bring their financial/tax documents can leave the workshop with a completed FAFSA form.

ATTENTION FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE CLASS OF 2014:
The December 1 deadline for placing orders for personal ad space in the 2014 White Oak yearbook is rapidly approaching!  Order forms and instructions were mailed home to all senior parents in late September.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to show your graduate how proud you are of his/her accomplishments!  For budgeting and planning purposes, the Yearbook staff MUST have this information by December 1. DANCE THIS FRIDAY:
The sophomore class will host a dance this Friday, November 8 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. The dance will be held in the cafeteria and the theme is “Black & White”. Admission is $5.00 & refreshments will be sold. If you would like to bring a guest from another school, forms are available in the APO and must be returned by Friday morning.

SPORTS AWARDS:
The Fall Sports Awards Night is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 pm. The program will take place in the Auditorium with a dessert social following in the cafeteria.

WINTER COAT & CLOTHING DRIVE:
UPDATE: WE ARE EXTENDING DROP OFF TO INCLUDED THE MORNING (‘TILL ABOUT 2PM) OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH!) Donate good, clean winter clothing (especially children’s clothing) such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, snow pants and boots. (Please no holes, stains, moth balls or mold.) Shop for free: Saturday, November 9, 10 am to 4 pm. Free winter clothes for yourself and your family. Enjoy the company of friends, hot chocolate, and goodies while you browse. NCCC Partnership Program:  
As part of our Partnership Program with NCCC, Juniors and Seniors can get a jump start on their college education by taking FREE college courses while in high school. With the partnership program, students with a B or better average can take two college courses and earn up to 8 college credits per semester at Northwestern Connecticut Community College. These credits can be used towards your degree at NCCC or be transferred to a number of four year institutions, saving you hundreds of dollars in tuition costs.  Interested students should see Ms. McLeod or your guidance counselor for more information. Registration deadline for the spring semester is November 15.

2013 YEARBOOKS:
The 2013 yearbooks are in; if you ordered a copy you can pick it up at the high school main office. There is a limited number of extras books if you did not purchase one you can still do so for $65.00.
