~ Announcements for Wednesday, November 21, 2012 ~
Blue Wednesday blocks are A-D-C-H-E-G

Wednesday, November 21 will be early dismissal at 12:20 pm.
NO School on Thursday & Friday. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:
Girls Basketball will practice at the high school on Tuesday and Wednesday. Practice on Tuesday will be at 2:30 pm and practice Wednesday will be at 1:00 p.m.
Practice during Thanksgiving weekend –
11/23 3:00 pm
11/24 3:00 pm
11/25 3:00 pm

BOYS BASKETBALL:
Boys Basketball will have their first practice on Monday, November 26th at 2:30 pm in the gym.

WINTER SPORTS:
Start Monday, November 26th, with the exception of Alpine Skiing, which will start Jan. 2nd, and Girls Basketball, which already started. All students must have a current physical on file and be academically eligible to participate.

Wrestling practice 2:30-5:00 p.m. 11/26
Boys Basketball 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. 11/26
Swimming – 3:00 p.m. at Hotchkiss. Please take bus #27 to Lakeville/Mars Athletic Center. Drivers may only drive themselves and siblings to practice.
Ice Hockey – practice will start either Monday or Tuesday evening. Coach Diamond will email players once he has confirmation for ice time from Hotchkiss.

ALPINE SKI TEAM:
To get the seasonal discount on the Mohawk Ski pass, please stop by the main office and pick up the letter that is required to show proof that you are a student.

ASVAB test:  
The test will be on the Tuesday, November 27th from 7:45 am- 10:45 am and it’s free and no need to register BUT we do need a signed permission form.  Forms can be found in guidance, main office or with Mrs. Peters. The ASVAB is arguably the best assessment and program for helping kids figure out possible career options and the scores WILL NOT be reported to the military.

HURRICANE SANDY FUND DRIVE:
Brick, New Jersey is in need of cleaning supplies, beverages for the command stands for people working in the area. Supplies need include: respiratory masks, cleaning gloves, mops, simple green, mold and mildew remover. If you are interested in donating, pick-up will be on Wednesday, November 21st from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the high school parking lot. There will also be a pick-up on Thursday, Thanksgiving morning before the football game.

HOLIDAY PRODUCTION NIGHT 2012:
Members of the Housatonic Valley FFA Chapter invite Alumni members, parents and friends to the annual Holiday Production Nights on Thursday, November 29 & Wednesday, December 5 from 7-9 pm. Join in the fun: make and decorate wreaths, enjoy refreshments, and earn points for your friends and children.

BURST THE BUS:
Help those in need!! Let’s fill the Ag Ed bus to bursting!!! Bring items to the bus at HVRHS December 1st – 23rd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Items needed: Sheets, blankets, bottled water, flashlights/batteries, non-perishable foods, hats, coats and boots.

Cabot Cheese: $3–$12, Wreaths: $12–$65 (average $20), Floral Centerpieces: 1 candle $15 / 3 candles $25, small swags $10, Large swags $15, Balsam Cross $20, Mixed Cross $24, Kissing Balls $30, greens $1a bunch, roping $2–$3 a foot, small boxwood trees $20, Large boxwood trees $25, Holiday (cemetery) boxes $20, Poinsettias $4-$45. All prices are approximate and could vary with the individual product.

CLASS RINGS:
You can still order class rings…..the forms are at the main office.
