~ Announcements for Tuesday, October 15, 2013~
Today is a Gold Tuesday schedule; Blocks are A, D, Advisory, B, E, H & F.
TODAY THE LATE BUS IS AT 5:30 PM

Main Lunch: Chicken Nuggets w/sauces, egg noodles, carrots & celery stix
A la Carte: Grilled Pannini

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18 will be Early Dismissal AT 12:20 pm. The late bus will be at 4:00 pm on Thursday.

BOYS SOCCER:
The Boys Soccer teams will be playing Wamago a home tonight (Tuesday) under the lights. Varsity will start at 6:30 pm and JV will start at 4:00 pm.

FIELD HOCKEY:
The field hockey teams will be dismissed at the end of the school day Tuesday.  The teams will play Litchfield away at Plumb Hill Field Complex in Litchfield. JV play at 3:45 pm and Varsity play at 5:00 pm.

CROSS COUNTRY:
The cross country will leave at 2:40 pm Tuesday.

BLOOD DRIVE:
HVRHS – Friday, October 18

COLLEGE PALNNING NIGHT:
On Thursday, October 24th, the Counseling Department will hold a College Planning Night for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and parents. This presentation will cover the college search process, what to look for in a college and what students can be doing now to optimize the chances of being admitted to a first choice college. The workshop will begin at 6:30 pm in Room 133 at the high school.

October 19 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm

Admission $7 or $5 with canned good

AUDITION WORKSHOP:
An Audition Workshop, given by Michael Berkeley and Betsy Howie on Friday, October 18 from 2:30-5:15 pm.  Free to any student.

AUDITIONS FOR THIS YEAR’S HVRHS MUSICAL:
The Auditions for “Hello Dolly” will be Friday, October 25 from 2:30-5:15 pm and Thursday, October 31 from 2:30-5:15 pm.  Call backs will be Friday, November 1 from 2:30-5:15 pm. A sign-up sheet for all three events will be posted in the high school main office and a copy of the script available in the Library for anyone who would like to read it.

KITCHEN TOUR:
This year’s Housatonic Musical Theatre Society’s 11 Annual Kitchen Tour will be Saturday, November 2 from 10 am to 4 pm. Advance Tickets are $35.00 – available online at HMTS.ORG or at the following stores: Kent Pharmacy, Salisbury Pharmacy or Sharon Pharmacy. Day-of tickets are $40.00.

SKI CLUB:
Please see Mr. Lazzaro for forms to ski and snowboard at Catamount this winter. The deadline for returning the forms is November 1st.

Remember this is your opportunity to talk with the representative that will be reading your application first.

NCCC Partnership Program:  
As part of our Partnership Program with NCCC, Juniors and Seniors can get a jump start on their college education by taking FREE college courses while in high school. With the partnership program, students with a B or better average can take two college courses and earn up to 8 college credits per semester at Northwestern Connecticut Community College. These credits can be used towards your degree at NCCC or be transferred to a number of four year institutions, saving you hundreds of dollars in tuition costs.  Interested students should see Ms. McLeod or your guidance counselor for more information. Registration deadline for the spring semester is November 15.

PSAT:
Any sophomore who is interested in taking the PSAT, which will be administered in the cafeteria on Wednesday, October 16, should sign up in Guidance as soon as possible. Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The test fee is $14.

2013 YEARBOOKS:
The 2013 yearbooks are in; if you ordered a copy you can pick it up at the high school main office. There is a limited number of extras books if you did not purchase one you can still do so for $65.00.

DRIVER’S ED:
Enroll online: all-stardriver.com/housy or call 800-732-8090. The next classes begin September 23 and will run through November 18.
